Help Society for the Poor and Distressed

Here is a nice letter requesting all kinds of used equipment. "Dear Sir/madam Ref: Society for the Poor and Distressed request for financial donations for its Poverty Alleviation and job creation Project South Africa is a country with serious problems of poverty, destitution & severe suffering among immigrants, unemployment and HIV/AIDS. However, those households living in poverty have sunk deeper into poverty and the gap between rich and poor has widened. Society for the Poor and Distressed (SODIP) was incorporated on 07-03-2012, as a non-profit company. Our organization is located in Johannesburg, South Africa. Our vision is: 'Eradication of poverty and distress among the suffering Africans.' Society for the Poor and Distressed was formed on August 2011 by Zimbabwean immigrants who fled political persecutions and economic crisis in Zimbabwe. We believe in contributing to better quality of life by engaging in income generating activities. Therefore we are requesting for funds to run an income generating project of Computer Refurbishing and Repairing.A donation of $100 or $300 or $1000 can make much difference and give hope to the suffering. PROJECTS (1). Computer Refurbishing and Repairing: The project Collect used and old computers, laptops, wires for repairing and recycling. Our refurbished computers will go to those who need them most. Most computers and IT items that some individuals, companies and organizations no longer want can be repaired, refurbished and upgraded for use by the poor communities. Or we can recycle those beyond repair to save the environment. The project will collect used computers for refurbishing; buy components and build computers and sell them to communities that need them most at low, but profitable prices. *More than ten companies in Johannesburg have donated second hand computers, printers and other IT items for the project. This project needs funds to purchase a cheap, second hand bakkie; equipment and components needed for computer repairing. (2). Hope for the Refugees: Aim to give humanitarian support to Zimbabwean refugees in South Africa. Our project is currently based in Johannesburg, South Africa. We give assistance to the refugees in terms of food, clothes, and other basic needs. Refugees and immigrants are part of our South African community, they need short term skills, compassion so that they can be self-dependent and contribute meaningfully to South African society. OBJECTIVES OF THE SOCIETY FOR THE POOR AND DISTRESSED - To assist the sick and poor with material needs such as food, clothes, shoes and medicines. -To raise capital for small businesses, skills training, farming technology and other self-reliance projects for poverty stricken communities. - To give seeds, tools and other Agriculture inputs so as to encourage the poor to grow food. - To promote cultural and social activities that leads those distressed to happiness, self-esteem and confidence. - To provide second hand and refurbished computers to poverty stricken communities. - To advocate for refugee and minority rights All your support will be greatly appreciated and highly valued. We are now looking forward to hear from you soon. Please see the attached document. Yours Sincerely, Collen Makumbirofa Chairman" Society for the Poor & Distressed P.O.
